Dr. Michelle Chiunti
I am from St. Johns, Michigan, just north of the capital Lansing, Michigan. I have always had a strong passion for animals and their well being. When I was seven years old, I decided that my love of horses needed to provide me with a sustainable career working with them, and I decided then that I wanted to be a veterinarian.
My convictions to this never wavered and I graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in 1988. Because of my enthusiasm to provide exceptional equine veterinary care, I pursued an internship at the University of Guelph Ontario Veterinary College after graduation from veterinary school. The internship at OVC provided an excellent base to move into the ”real world“, and begin my career as an equine veterinarian.
At the OVC I met my husband and fellow partner, veterinarian Lex Luttikhuis. we decided to make Northumberland County in Colborne our home and in 1990 established Northumberland Veterinary Service.
Age, children, and opportunity have moved me from 18 years as an equine veterinarian to small animal veterinary medicine. I enjoy my days as a veterinarian and my special interest these days lies in canine reproduction and agility. But I will never turn down the opportunity to go for a trail ride!
