  1. Dentistry

    We offer full dental care for your pet – scaling/polishing for tartar removal and digital dental radiography (x-ray) for full evaluation of your pet’s mouth. For severe dental disease or trauma, surgical extractions are often necessary.

    All of our vets are well versed in dental disease and can provide you with a preventive oral health program, evaluation of dental disease and treatment options.

  2. Soft Tissue & Orthopedic Surgery

    With decades of experience, we offer a wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic surgical procedures, both common and specialty procedures.

    Common soft tissue surgeries:

    – Spays/neuters

    – Mass removals

    – Cystotomy (bladder stone removal)

    – Aural hematoma

    – Foreign body removal (gastrointestinal surgery)

    Common orthopedic procedures:

    – Cruciate ligament repair (tightrope technique)

    – Fracture repair

    – Femoral head ostectomy

  3. Laser Surgery

    We offer a state-of-the-art 25W laser scalpel for soft tissue surgical procedures. It offers quicker more painless surgery with less inflammation, bleeding and swelling.

    Although laser can be used for any soft tissue surgery, it is most common for mass removals, oral and ear procedures.

  4. Laser Therapy

    Laser therapy employs the use of cold laser to penetrate superficial and deep tissues to decrease inflammation and accelerate the body’s ability to heal. It can be used for chronic conditions or even post-operatively.

    Laser therapy is commonly used for chronic arthritis, anal gland inflammation, trauma and chronic pain.

  5. Diagnostic Imaging

    We provide digital radiography while you wait, digital dental radiography with all dental procedures and ultrasonography – some of the most fundamental and important diagnostics to determine the cause of your pet’s illness.

    Ultrasounds may include single organ, partial abdomen, full abdomen, cardiac or pregnancy ultrasound.

  6. Reproduction

    Dr. Michelle has decades of experience in theriogenology (reproduction) and our clinic has served breeders since its inception.

    We provide: artificial insemination, ovulation regulation, semen collection/evaluation/freezing/shipping, and many other breeder services.

    We are also open 7 days a week for C-sections.

  7. Endoscopy

    Chronic vomiting, diarrhea or intermittent gastrointestinal signs may necessitate endoscopy, the best tool for assessing GI disease.

    We provide gastroscopy and colonoscopy, with the ability to take biopsies for histopathological examination. All procedures are done under general anesthesia.

  8. Dermatology

    Dr. Lex has extensive training in dermatology and our staff is well versed in treating skin disease. There may be many options for treating your animal depending on the cause.

  9. Cardiology

    Many cardiac conditions go undiagnosed until your annual physical exam. If your pet is symptomatic for heart disease, treatment may be necessary.

    We provide full cardiac workups, including blood profile, radiography (x-ray) and echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound) for preliminary investigation. Many heart conditions can be treated medically.

    In complex cases where further assessment or intervention is needed, referral to a cardiologist may be necessary.

  10. Ophthalmology

    With years of experience examining eyes and all their complex diseases, we provide full ophthalmological examinations, and the ability to diagnose and treat many ocular conditions. From glaucoma to dry eye, tumours to corneal ulcers, and everything in between, we do it all!

    As the eye is a very complex organ, in rare cases a referral to an ophthalmologist may me necessary.

  11. Exotic Animals

    At NVPC, we are experienced dealing with all species. From small mammals such as rabbits, ferrets and guinea pigs to birds and reptiles and wildlife, we’ve seen it all.

  12. Rescue & Adoption

    We believe all animals deserve proper care and treatment.

    We work with many local rescues and the Northumberland Humane Society to treat and place animals in need. We have our own cat adoption centre on the 2nd floor of our clinic.

    We also have a Pet Trust Fund to help our clients in financial need, which is available for anyone to donate to.
